Kate Morton… Artist & Director of OBI Presshouse

Kate Morton started working as an advertising copywriter in Wagga, New South Wales. She then went on to work in regional television and newspapers, and after a stint writing copy for Channel 7 in Sydney, was married and moved to Western New South Wales. Over the years she has worked as a free lance journalist, a preschool and primary teacher and finally a high school art teacher. Eventually, she retired to Bruny Island because it was/is the most beautiful natural place of coast, bush and wildlife she had ever seen in all her travels. Fiercely concerned with the environment and the effect humans are having on the planet, Kate decided to form the company OBI Presshouse in 2018. She wanted to use it to promote stories that might get younger children to become aware of the problems animals face from the human influence on their habitats and their environment. Her belief is that if the next generation grow up knowing the problems that exist, then they might be better placed and determined to do something about it. Currently, Kate writes children’s stories and creates work for her Gallery, The Art Room, at Dennes Point, North Bruny, Tasmania.
